Dear Colleague,

With Model Guided Medicine (MGM) and AI being a main theme of CARS 2025, it is reassuring to observe an increasing awareness of modelling themes and related AI topics by medical and technical associations, such as the German Society of Surgery (DGCH), German Roentgen Society (DRG), and SPIE. During the CARS 2025 40th Anniversary, this is being demonstrated with joint workshops and sessions of CARS with these associations on MGM related themes, held in the historic medical congress centre Langenbeck-Virchow-Haus in Berlin.

Also called the House of Medicine, the Langenbeck-Virchow-Haus derived its goal from the Berlin Medical Association and the German Society of Surgery “to promote scientific efforts across the entire field of medicine ...”. This has also been one of the goals of the CARS Congresses, even though limited in 1985 to the application of computers to radiology and surgery. In recent years, the goal was extended to include pathology. With specific emphasis on modelling and AI, CARS 2025 supports a computer assisted medicine generally by focussing on the overarching themes of model generation, truthfulness, transparency, relevance, explainability and their impact on health care.

We cordially invite our colleagues from health care institutions, academia and industry to be part of the worldwide CARS community at the 40th Anniversary of the CARS Congress in Berlin 1985-2025, combined with the 20th Anniversary of the International Journal of CARS, a journal destined to play a pivotal role in peer reviewed CARS publications.

With this background and for the benefit of all stakeholders in health care, the overall theme for CARS 2025 is targeted at “Model Guided Medicine and AI”.
